Walking the Gospel road, part 1.
Walking the Gospel road is my way of describing the Christian walk. It serves as my road map to obeying God. We have the four Gospels, Mathew, Mark, Luke, and John. These are the foundations of our faith.
They describe the Birth of our Lord. The life, death, and the resurrection. The very character of Jesus as well as the character of God Himself. The Gospels give detail of what our Lord wanted us to know and do. It gave us the hope for our future as well as a promise from God that we too, could be with Him someday.
Although we may have started our lives apart from Him. Some may have even spoke against Him. But all can be forgiven of our past, our sins, and even serious actions that may have occurred. There is not only hope in Christ, but the promise of forgiveness. This forgiveness is far greater than is sometimes realized.
Imagine being a child again. Coming into your home after getting your clothes and yourself as muddy as a pig sty.
Imagine walking on the floor after your mother had just cleaned it with those muddy shoes. Ask yourself, would she allow you in that way? The Lord God will not allow sin into heaven. Not even the smallest blot of sin may enter. So, He has provided all who believe with a way to be cleansed. The Lord Jesus shed His blood to wash all clean who will ask, and accept Him. Although not all will believe. But many may ask.
In the Gospels, it is written many times concerning the miracles Jesus performed. From healing the sick, to casting out demons to raising the dead. Many believed because of this, but also, many did not. I always thought that if Jesus could just be present today, speak to all and even perform miracles as He did in those days, no one would turn away. Of course this way of thinking was all wrong. He did those things in plain open sight and still many did not believe. They attributed it to being from the devil. To being anything but from God. People are the same from era to era. From generation to generation not a lot changes. The way we live, our technology all may change, but the actions and desires don’t. There is still personal greed, idolatry in many forms, sexual immorality, killings and the list goes on. These sins continue and are not a thing of the past. People are people and will succumb to sin if not saved from it. Jesus is that salvation. No longer does anyone have to live that way or walk that road. The Lord God has provided a better road. The Gospel Road. All are invited to walk this road. All can be saved from an eternity of grief. Jesus stands with His arms open, inviting anyone to come to Him.
The Gospel road is written in the four Gospels for all to access. The roadmap to happiness and salvation is available to anyone anywhere. The road is straight, and well-lit by the Glory of God through Jesus Christ. As I can attest, having walked some very difficult roads in this life, walking the Gospel Road has made a marked difference in my life. Jesus is the light as He has stated. Although the Gospel Road does not exist without bumps, His light allows me to see them. The Holy Spirit guides me around them, when I listen. But when I choose to walk and ignore His prodding, I find the road bumpy and difficult. It is only when I obey God, which the road gets smooth. He will not only guide us on this road but will make provisions for us to overcome any obstacle. Just as He did for His people in the desert after leaving Egypt. He made provisions, water, and food, light by night and guidance by day. The Lord never leaves us on our own but walks with us every second of our lives.
The Lord God is who He says He is, and does what He says He will. We can have confidence in His Word, in His promises. Remember, His Word IS, Jesus Christ. As it is written, “IN THE BEGINNING WAS THE WORD, AND THE WORD BECAME FLESH”.
So we can take the Gospel Road in our lives and walk it safely. Trusting in the unfailing word of God. Walking in our faith and believing. Having joy and living a Christian life. Throwing off the old selves as we are reborn into His word. Into the life promised to every believer. There is no sin we have committed that will keep us from the love of our God. We are all given the choice. Take the dark, dangerous, and deadly road, or the peaceful, well-lit and loving Gospel Road.
Which one will you choose?
